PASSPORT is pleased to join with four partner organizations in forming the Respite for Revs Collective!
During these seemingly never-ending days of pandemic pastoring, clergy are struggling. Earlier this year Passport President, David Burroughs, offered six ways to support our weary ministers.
Months later many are reaching the point of burn out, and some have already walked away from local church leadership due to the overwhelming challenges they’ve faced. Additional time away for rest and renewal is vital for the health of clergy and congregations.
These observations and convictions are at the heart the new #RespiteForRevs initiative.
A column by Mitch Randall, CEO of Good Faith Media about the struggles and stress clergy have been facing during the pandemic, led to a larger dialogue about how our organizations might join forces to offer practical help. The leaders of BJC (Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty), Baptist News Global, Baptist Women in Ministry,
Good Faith Media and Passport decided to create a joint initiative to offer assistance in the form of respite care.
Respite for Revs is based on a simple offer to local churches: Provide your minister an extra week off from preaching or teaching, and a staff member from one of the five organizations will preach or teach in their place at no cost to the congregation.
If your congregation wishes to participate in #RespiteforRevs, they can reach out to the contact person for each organization to schedule a preacher or speaker. You can find more information here.
Theologically trained staff at Passport include: David Burroughs, Colleen Burroughs, Dale Tadlock, Scott Ford and James Blay. If you would like to schedule someone from Passport to lead worship, preach or teach a Bible Study call us at 1-800-769-0210 or email David@passportcamps.org
