You’re struggling. You want to come to PASSPORTkids at Montreat, but you are worried about approaching your parents with the holiday dates.
Instead of shying away from asking parents to give up a holiday with their children, invite them to join your church for a mountain getaway where they can invest in their child’s faith formation, reflect on their own walk with Christ, and spend time soaking up the beauty of God’s creation. Many of our churches use PASSPORTkids camp at Montreat like a mini-family camp, taking more parents than they need for their chaperone ratio and here’s why:
1) Retreat-like Atmosphere
Nestled at the foot of Greybeard Mountain and enveloped by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Montreat is a gorgeous backdrop for PASSPORTkids camp. Montreat offers chaperones & parents the opportunities to take a self-guided hike, paddle boat on Lake Susan, or lounge by the pool.
2) Flexible Schedule
The PASSPORTkids schedule allows for parents & chaperones to choose how much they want to participate and assist in camp programming. They can choose to assist with Bible Study, Rec Party, and Afternoon Choices, or they can use those times to rest & regenerate. Montreat has many outdoor amenities and we encourage your adults to take advantage of all this beautiful location has to offer!
3) Fourth of July Festivities
Montreat is known for its wonderful Fourth of July parade and spectacular fireworks show. Campers and parents alike will have an opportunity to enjoy these festivities together (or separately, if parents want extended nap time).
4) Hotel-Quality Food
Don’t expect a PB&J sandwich! Assembly Inn & Montreat’s kitchen staff offers a variety of delicious and healthy options at every meal, and are easily able to accommodate any dietary need or allergy.
5) Unique Opportunity to Worship Together
No matter the location, PASSPORTkids offers parents and chaperones the opportunity to dream, learn, and worship alongside their children in a setting that is uniquely built with your child’s developmentally-appropriate faith formation in mind. Watching your child learn and explore what it means to be a Jesus follower, while they have fun and make new friends, is a spiritually renewing experience that any parent would enjoy.
