MissionBASE: Memphis is not just another mission trip. It is a fully immersive missions expedition in the heart of downtown of Memphis, Tennessee where your students will join in on the reconciliation and restoration efforts in this historic city. For a week, your students will live and serve their new neighbors for six hours every day being the hands and feet of Jesus, meeting unmet needs, relationally investing in the community.

Location:

Second Baptist Church is located just East of the bustling downtown of Memphis, Tennessee. Facilities are very clean and new.

* Unfortunately, due to the location and nature of work, MissionBASE: Memphis is not wheelchair accessible.

What To Expect:

Meaningful Mission Work

If you are looking for a mission trip that has light construction, MissionBASE: Memphis is for you! Partnering with Memphis neighborhoods to identify meaningful projects, MissionBASE: Memphis offers your students a chance to repair and revitalize underserved neighborhoods. MissionBASE participants will minister and be ministered to as they work alongside community youth and adults who want to share their dream of a better community.

Sustainable Mission Partners

PASSPORT is committed to a sustainable model of mission work. To ensure that your week-long trip is a part of a thoughtful strategy, MissionBASE: Memphis partners with community leaders who are invested in the long-term vision of their community. As a MissionBASE participant, you will learn with and from our local partners and go home knowing that the time you spent was a meaningful part of an ongoing ministry.

Simple Missional Living

MissionBASE is about community, not luxury. Your group will be living at Second Baptist Church, located just east of downtown Memphis.

You can expect:

  • Air-conditioned facilities
  • Participants will sleep on floors in Bible Study rooms or large open spaces, such as in a gym or fellowship hall.  Bring all of your own bedding (sleeping bag, sheets, pillow, inflatable mattress, air pump, etc).
  • Indoor gym
  • Shower/locker room facilities

Cultural Experiences/Free Night

Whether visiting the National Civil Right’s Museum or venturing out into the city, your youth group will embark on guided cultural experiences that will deepen your group’s connection to each other and the community. Additionally, we offer one church group free night so that you can explore Memphis on your own!

Reflective and Informal Worship

After a day of working hard repairing downtown neighborhoods, you’ll attend a low-key and reflective time of worship. Bring casual come-as-you-are attire to join our team for group discussion and stripped-down worship. Have musical youth or chaperones? Bring your guitars and tell our staff, we would love for you to share!

Increased Responsibility for Adults & Students

Our experienced MissionBASE staff serve as facilitators and guides. Adult leaders and students form teams responsible for significant portions of community life and are expected to come ready to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Church group adults will be living among their students and will be responsible for their supervision throughout the week.
